Philipp Fankhauser manages to release an excellent live cd. Some of Philipp's favoured Blues classics are performed in a not pretentious, totally relaxed way. And the announcements are witty and increase the value of the album.
The rhythm section with Tosho Yakkatokuo on drums and Richard Cousins on bass perform confidently and deliver the necessary bottom for Philipp. It's not hard to understand that these guys have this music in their blood, and that they have learned a lot from the Bluesmasters.
Really an awesome album, that gets better each time around. My personal tip is: "I'm so lonesome, I could cry", the classic Hank Williams tune.
As goodie you'll find 3 short video tracks, which have been recorded at Bern's Mahogany Hall in April 2003.
So damn' cool is really a cool album and ranks among the best of Fankhauser's releases.
