Wednesday 5. November 2003 Bierhuebeli Music Hall, Bern
For the third edition of "Fathers & Sons of The Blues" Philipp Fankhauser brought, after Louisiana Red in August of 2002 and Sugar Blue in January of 2003, another great personality of the Blues to the Bierhuebeli Bern stage. Alvin "Youngblood" Hart is, as his name says, not a father but rather a son of the Blues. The guitar player and singer has been nominated for a Grammy award in 2003 for his outing of "Down In The Alley", and he is considered as one of the new hopes of the Blues. Hart can be seen in the Martin Scorsese production "The Blues" in the Wim Wenders movie "The Soul of a Man". In 1997 Alvin Hart won the W.C. Handy Award for "Best New Blues Artist", 1998 for his second album he won the "Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll Award for Best Blues Album". For his third album "Start with the Soul" he was awarded the "New York Times top 10 releases of 2000" and "The BBC Blues record of the year award". And in 2003 the before mentioned Grammy nomination for his fourth album.
