Philipp Fankhauser’s CrossCut debut is an impressive one. Philipp is one of the most interesting blues acts in Europe and he sure has his own style and sound. “Love Man Riding” exemplifies that’s style. It’s atmospheric, with blues and soul melted together for a unique mood. The sonic landscape of his music is as always impressive and his voice sounds as rich as ever. It’s deep, resonant and memorable. Plus, he only sings good material and that makes him a standout on the scene today. His songs are thoughtful and moving, exactly the way blues songs should be. No ego showing, no solos “to die for”, just an honest, personal statement of an artist who has found his own recipe blues.
